How to send fan mail to R.L. Stine

Where do you send fan mail to R.L. Stine?

Address it to R.L. Stine, c/o Scholastic Inc., 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012-3999. Goosebumps is a Scholastic series, and Scholastic’s “Writing to Scholastic Authors” page says letters addressed to an author at that address are forwarded. His official website, rlstine.com, has news, a bookshelf, and a school-report FAQ, but no mailing address as of October 22, 2026.

Scholastic says it forwards mail to its own authors and asks for a postage-paid envelope with the author’s name on it. Put “R.L. Stine” on the first line so the forwarding desk knows where the letter goes.

What should a letter to R.L. Stine include?

Pick the book that scared you best and say why: the twist you didn’t see coming, or the Slappy scene you still think about. His site names The Haunted Mask and the books featuring Slappy the evil dummy as his favorite Goosebumps titles, and says most of his story ideas start with a title, so a reader who writes stories might share a title they dreamed up. Keep it to one page and put your return address in the letter.

Writing for a school report? Read the FAQ on his About page first. It already answers where he gets ideas, whether he gets writer’s block, and how many books he has written, and it offers downloadable images for book reports.

Does R.L. Stine answer fan mail?

Scholastic says it can’t promise authors will answer all their mail, though they read the letters and appreciate hearing from readers. His own site doesn’t describe a reply or autograph policy, so don’t send anything you need back, like a book to sign or an original drawing.

Can a class write to R.L. Stine together?

Yes. A teacher can gather the letters, use the school as the return address, and have students sign with first names. IRIS can mail one class letter with every student’s first name typed at the end for $3.20, or mail each student’s letter as its own order. For a full class set, tell us about it and we’ll quote the batch. Scholastic’s author-mail page also links to its information on author visits for schools.

How do you mail it with IRIS?

Use the editor on this page: your name and address, then “R.L. Stine, c/o Scholastic Inc.” with the Broadway address, then your letter. IRIS prints it and mails it First-Class to New York. A one-page letter is $3.20, postage included, and you see the full total before paying through Stripe; no account is needed.
