From your software to a real envelope

Connect the work. Keep the mailing decision yours.

Use REST from your application or MCP from a compatible assistant client. Both work with your finished PDFs, reviewed addresses, and IRIS developer account.

Two developer approaches

Choose the connection your application can support.

Both paths create individual outbound US letter and postcard orders using prepaid credits. Your application supplies the document preview, review process, and authorization to submit.

REST API

For software you control: prepare a PDF, upload it privately, request a price, submit the approved mailing, then read its status.

  • Keep an account-bound API key on a trusted server.
  • Render the finished PDF in your own application; IRIS does not generate the document through the API.
  • Save one idempotency key per approved mailing so an uncertain response can be retried safely.

Authenticated remote MCP

For a client that supports remote Streamable HTTP and bearer authorization. Discover tools for preparing an upload, registering a document, quoting, submitting, and reading status.

  • Every MCP request needs an IRIS key with the required account access and tool scopes.
  • Your trusted code must transfer the actual PDF bytes; requesting an upload does not transfer a local file.
  • Enforce human review before a paid submission. A connected assistant is not permission to mail.

Connecting a billing system or CRM?

Use an export or a custom integration your team builds. IRIS does not offer native QuickBooks, CRM, Zapier, or Make connectors. These guides show how to organize your own workflow.

Start with the client you use

Assistant walkthroughs, with the setup made clear.

A drafting assistant, a developer tool, and a connected application have different capabilities. Each guide explains the supported path and the parts you need to handle yourself.

ChatGPT & custom OpenAI applications

Use ChatGPT to draft a document for manual upload, or build a separate OpenAI application that implements MCP authentication and approval. The walkthrough distinguishes these paths.

Grok

Check that your chosen client can connect to remote Streamable HTTP with the required bearer authorization. If it cannot, use a trusted REST handoff and upload the prepared document yourself.

OpenClaw

Register and probe IRIS in a compatible OpenClaw runtime. Use a preparation-only credential and keep the paid submission behind your own review step.

Muse & Muse Code

Consumer Muse can help with a draft for manual review. A Muse Code developer workflow is a separate path; do not assume the consumer app can connect to IRIS or complete checkout.

Before your first mailing

Prepare the document and the decision.

Set up access and review

  1. Create and verify your developer account. Add prepaid credits before submitting a paid order.
  2. Use a scoped credential stored securely. Give preparation tools only the access they need; reserve submission access for the approved mailing step.
  3. Show a person the actual PDF or postcard faces, both names and complete addresses, print options, current price, and purpose.
  4. Requote and review again if details change. Save the approved payload and idempotency key, then retain the returned order ID.
Read the human-review requirements

Build the exception path

Handle an invalid PDF, missing address field, expired upload, rejected authentication, or insufficient credits before submission. The documentation describes errors and retry behavior.

When a submission response is uncertain, reconcile the existing intent using the saved key and unchanged payload. Read status after you have an order ID; missing tracking is not a reason to create a replacement order.

What this connection covers

Individual outbound US mailings. Your application owns approval history and status polling. The API does not provide bulk campaigns, scheduled sending, inbound mail scanning, international delivery, or customer webhooks.

For a letter you need to send today

You can upload a PDF yourself.

Use your preferred tool to prepare a letter, export the final PDF, and open it to check every page. Upload it to IRIS, enter complete sender and recipient details, review the price, and complete checkout yourself. No integration is required.
