Fees and records

Current IRIS Certified Mail add-ons
Certified Mail+$6.95
Electronic return receipt+$2.91

Letter service and per-page printing charges also apply. Electronic return receipt requires Certified Mail and requests a delivery record showing the recipient signature when USPS makes it available.

What the IRIS order page shows

  • A USPS Certified Mail tracking number after it becomes available.
  • Available acceptance, transit, delivery, or exception events reported by the provider.

IRIS does not currently provide a downloadable postmarked USPS mailing receipt or electronic Return Receipt signature document. If a recipient requires either artifact, confirm another way to obtain it before ordering; order status and tracking events are not substitutes.

What Certified Mail does not guarantee

Certified Mail is not faster service and does not guarantee a delivery date or make a mailing legally sufficient. A signature record requires a return receipt and depends on USPS producing the record; its availability is not guaranteed. IRIS is independent of USPS and is not a government agency, court, or law firm.

Read the USPS Certified Mail and Return Receipt description.

Timing, order updates, and cancellation

Payment confirms your order, not printing or USPS handoff. IRIS does not publish a fixed time from payment to USPS handoff or guarantee an arrival date. Creation and rendering reports from the print partner do not establish physical printing completion or postal acceptance. See delivery timing and status meanings.

Open your private order page from your order confirmation for the displayed status and available provider-reported events. Missing or late scans do not establish a particular physical state. Contact support for a concerning status, a cancellation request, or help interpreting a delay. Include your order number and displayed status, not document contents, financial or government identifiers, or passwords.

Need to cancel? Contact support promptly. Cancellation is not guaranteed after submission to the print network. Read the cancellation terms, including the treatment of third-party costs already incurred.

Certified Mail questions

How many PDF pages can I send with Certified Mail?

Certified Mail supports up to 6 paper sheets: 6 PDF pages with single-sided printing or 12 PDF pages with double-sided printing. A PDF page is one printed side; a paper sheet can hold two sides.

Does Certified Mail make delivery faster?

No. Certified Mail does not travel faster. USPS offers a mailing receipt and tracking; IRIS displays reported tracking and events, not a downloadable postmarked USPS receipt.

Is a recipient signature included?

A signature record is not included with Certified Mail alone. Electronic Return Receipt requests one from USPS, but IRIS does not currently offer a downloadable signature document.

Does IRIS provide legal advice about proof of service?

No. Requirements vary by document, agency, court, contract, and jurisdiction. Confirm the required mailing method before sending.
